Matthew Rusike College completes two new Classroom Blocks

The Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Schools continue to top in infrastructure development and pass rate. The upcoming Schools are also fast catching up as exhibited by Matthew Rusike College.

On 26 March the Head of Church Rev. G.T. Mawire was at Matthew Rusike College dedicating two classroom blocks with four classrooms and four Teachers offices.

“To the board, the Management, and the Parents, I commend you for meeting the target you promised. Last year, I came to dedicate the hostel. At the same time I did the ground breaking for the classroom blocks. Now I have come to dedicate the blocks.” remarked the Presiding Bishop.

Speaking at the same event, The Bishop of Harare East District Rev. E. Chiota said the District is proud to have an upcoming boarding school. This is not a ‘Missionary’ initiative, it is home grown hence it deserves our support.

Speaking on behalf of the board and handing over the project, Board Chairman Advocate T. Mazonde said that the Church must take this College seriously. It is proving to be a viable project for the Church and a School of Choice.

Rev. Dr. Daniel Muzenda the Education Secretary was full of joy:

“Presiding Bishop, Schools are galloping in speed in fulfilling their development plans and the Church’s pillar 5 in the Strategic Plan. Matthew Rusike College made a lot of milestone achievements in one year. A hostel which houses 120 boarders was completed. The School upgraded facilities at the boys’ hostels. Now four classrooms and Teachers’ Offices have been completed. The college registered a 100% ‘A’ level pass rate up from 69%, and a 62% ‘O’ level pass rate up from 19% .The college participates religiously in MESCO activities and they perform very well among giant Mission Schools.”

The College Principal Rev. A. Makiwa informed the gathering that the College intends to extend the girls hostel to decongest the boarders. A ground breaking ceremony was held at the extension site.

The College head Mr T. Maririke gave the vote of thanks and thanked all the stakeholders to the college for the support.
